Memento Mori
To me, he was an acquaintance rather than a friend, although, in the summer of 1968, we belonged to a group that bonded as members of the Teen Theater of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA). Maryo (then Mario), Gardy, and Ding were seminarians at Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary, and Nonon, Paul, and I were from Ateneo High School. Maryo, Gardy, and Ding eventually left the seminary, but, today, Ding is a dean of religious formation. (Ironically I myself would earn an M.A. in Religious Studies many years later.)
I see none of them now. Retirement is so blissful for me as The Hermit Of Cubao.
