Your Messenger message:

"Hi Tony. What form does a spirit take when they pass away? Do they keep the form of their last incarnation or is there such a thing as a default or original form?"

My reply:

Hello _____!

Upon passing away and even through its crossing over, a spirit will retain the body, clothing, personality, language, and voice that it had in its corporal state, in order to be recognized by its loved ones should they be able to see it.

A spirit will never disguise itself as someone or something else, because cosmic, universal, and astral realities are always states of truth.

All falsehoods, lies, and deceptions exist in the realm of the living, where they are used mainly as defense mechanisms and as tools to achieve selfish ends, which are all of no importance and of no concern to spirits.

Should there be apparent falsehoods, lies, and deceptions attributed to spirits, they are mere projections of the living.
