I really had problems with the "amnesia" episodes of Ghost Whisperer and am just so glad they are over.
1) If the body as an organism is dead, it will remain dead even if another soul jumps into it.
2) If a soul jumps into a live body that has somehow been vacated by its original owner, that "new" person will not undergo confusion, because the mind is very much a part of the soul and will retain its ego, its mental history, and its consciousness. There will be NO mixing or merging of two minds, because the original owner has moved on, along with his own mind.
3) "Step-ins" a.k.a "walk-ins" are not allowed by laws of the cosmos, because they go against karma and kismet, and the necessity of completing a lifetime cycle. Only reincarnation is allowed. Otherwise we would have millions of "step-ins" and "walk-ins" due to "unfinished business".
4) This concept employed by the series is one of the reasons why people superstitiously fear lucid dreaming, astral travel, hypnosis, and creative visualization.
